Going Digital

The Kenya driving licence needed a facelift

For almost a century, Kenyan drivers have been issued with the same licence booklet. The ugly ancient document has seen little to no change to its prehistoric design which is a dino’sore’ compared to what is used in the rest of the world. The paper pages sometimes come-off and it is always too bulky to have it on your person.

The solution was a digital card fed with driver information from the NTSA and Traffic police databases.  Other key info is the blood group and organ donor identifier in case of accidents. the card is fitted with a chip for contact-based readers as well as a printed barcode for IR scanners.
